Teenagers in the media

Teenagers are depicted as knife wielding holligans who have know respect for anything, would rob there own nan and have sex with everything in sight. the media might actually be right. It's just that some people mainly them who think its wrong that they are depicted this way. The media has no moralls, which is obvious by the things that are printed and uploaded on the internet. I'm gonna try and tell you why they are seen this.

The news has given teenagers a very bad reputation. There are always storys about teenagers getting in to trouble. these teenagers are not the majority but the majority are tarnished with the same label of being destriuctive and bad.

M1 motorway fire The fire at mill hill underneath the M1.
This fire was very serious and had a lot of consequences for the people involved who were all teenagers. This brought up lots of storys on the news and in newspapers about how teenagers were not to be trusted and that all teenagers were like this, which is not true.

Conclusion
:
A small majority of  teenagers aren actually what the media present them as. The media has done well to put a bad name to all tenagers.

  1. Some good examples from film, tv and news and you show a good understanding of stereotypes. Next time to improve, try being more specific with your examples. For example, rather than just say "The bullies in the Simpsons always commit crimes", you could say "In one episode of the Simpsons, Nelson hits Bart for not giving him his lunch money. This suggests all teenagers are bullies and pick on younger children. In many episodes, all the bullies wear hats and hoodies. This might lead people to believe that hoodies and hats are associated with crime and therefore they might assume all people who wear hats and hoodies are criminals."
